insure your iPhone

we all know someone who has an iPhone (probably more than just one person).  we all also, more than likely, know someone who has dropped or otherwise damaged their iPhone, rendering it useless.  then there are the random, my phone just quit working people (like me).  all of them were left with the unpleasant and often cost prohibitive prospect of replacing their iPhone, often at full price (if not eligible for an “upgrade”).  wouldn’t it be nice to know that if you dropped and shattered the glass on your phone, or someone stole it from you, that you could get a NEW iPhone?  take it from me, yeah, it would be nice.

well, the folks at WorthAveGroup offer a nice little insurance policy on your iPhone (and other electronics, too) that would do just that.  check out their iPhone Insurance info.  some basics:

  • $55 for 8GB
  • $63 for 16GB
  • $69 for 16GB 3GS
  • $79 for 32GB 3GS
  • There is a 50 dollar deductible.
  • Covers Theft and accidental damage including liquid damage.
  • Does not have to be a new phone to get coverage and there is no waiting period to file a claim.

if you’ve read my iPhone conundrum posts, then you know that i could have certainly used this product.  heck, if i had known about it, i’d probably still be using my iPhone instead of having switched to a Blackberry.  see, since i couldn’t get a new replacement iPhone, i borrowed one from a friend, and it was scratched, and a little glitchy, and i could not, for the life of me, ever get his music off that damn phone (or my music onto it, since my computer crapped out on me at the same time.  which reminds me, they sell Laptop Insurance, too.).

their underwriter has a solid “A” rating, and for the money, and the more than 5 people i know who have lost their iPhone due to breakage, this seems like a good deal.  unless you’re super rich and can afford to buy new iPhones like candy.

they also have some great combo policy deals on things like laptops with a phone, gaming systems, cameras, etc. added on at a discount rate.  check it out.
