you gotta be f’ing kidding me
so, i have to go through radiation treatments, and who knows what else. lots of waiting, lots of laying around at the hospital. lots of time to listen to music. so, i wanted to buy myself something nice, comfortable, and easy to use with my crutches (i.e. cordless so as not to tangle). so, i bought the Motorola ROKR S9-HD bluetooth stereo headset:

- * fine print = battery absolutely not replaceable
i paid $130 for this piece of shit that will only last me a year, tops. seriously. “no way, that can’t be.”, you say. well, i have the online support chat to prove it:
Gisela P: Hi, my name is Gisela P. How may I help you?
Sue Osborn: i was wondering if the battery on my bluetooth headsets can be replaced if i sent it in?
Gisela P: Please note that the battery in the S9 HD is non-replaceable.
Sue Osborn: right, i see that. so is the battery on the ipod, but you can send it in…
Sue Osborn: so basically i paid 130 bucks for a headset that will last a year?
Gisela P: What issue are you having with the device?
Sue Osborn: i am not having an issue. i need to know if i need to return it because it will only last me a year due to not being able to get a new battery put in.
Sue Osborn: my question is: can i send in the headset to motorola to have a new battery installed when this one dies?
Gisela P: If while under warranty you have an issue with the device, we would be able to replace it.
Sue Osborn: can it be replaced if i paid for it after the warranty is up?
Sue Osborn: i’m not trying to scam you here, i just want to know if it’s worth it to me to keep this.

Disconnection in 240 seconds.
Connection resumed.
Gisela P: When the device is out of the warranty period it can not be replaced, not even the battery.
Sue Osborn: thanks. i’ll be taking it back then. i can’t believe you actually sell any of these.
conclusion: these things are a ripoff and you are a tool if you buy them. i know i feel like a tool.
