i’ve recently joined and started actively posting on twitter. i gotta admit, it’s taken me a while to grasp just what twitter offers me that other networking sites like facebook or myspace don’t. the biggest thing, at least that i can see this far, is the ability to connect and “listen” to the thoughts and opinions of others, without having to actively look them up myself. i’ve also found that twitter affords a quick and simple way to share news and articles with others, as they happen, and hear about them as well.
i heard that when all hell broke loose in india last year during the terrorist attacks that twitter was one of the main ways many people caught up in it all were communicating with each other. in fact, you could tune in to the news and hear about it, or log on to twitter and watch all the updates in real time from the people who were actually there.
so, twitter is my newest experiment. i’m not sure yet if i want to set it up so that every post i put up on this site feeds into it yet…a lot of my posts may not be what others want to read. i’m still up in the air on that…
anyway, so far i’ve enjoyed following the tweets of people such as lavar burton, rachel maddow, think geek, and brave combo.
i also read this great article about how to be a better tweeter.
