well hello again

so here’s the skinny:

my neighbor, from whom i was borrowing (i paid her for it) my internet service, moved recently.  so, no internets at home anymore.

then, my iPhone crapped out on me.  i’m fairly certain there is an issue with a loose connection in the antenna area, but for all intents and purposes, it’s dead.  so, no phone internets either.  that should be fixed soon, though, as my mexican brother is going to give me his old iPhone.  he’s a real mensch (in a mexican sort of way).

they’re all serious about people not screwing around online at my work, soooo, i can’t do stuff up there either.  more no internets.

so, in a nutshell, i’ve been totally cut off.  it’s so bad i’ve started “tweeting” in a little mini-moleskine notebook i bought (along with an awesome pen) from thinkgeek.  how am i doing this right now, you ask?  well, i’m at a bar, of course.  silly question.

but hey, a lot’s been going on.  and when i say a lot, i’m not talking about Obama’s complete disregard for gay rights, or some silly election in Iran.  i’m talking about ME.  my life.  so, in a rare post style, i’m going to spend the majority of this  (which you’ve probably already stopped reading) talking about my shit.  ready?  (let me get another beer first.)

  • right around the time i got sick with wild boar flu, miller lite started tasting a little “skunky” to me, so now i drink bud lite.  or coors lite.  or shiner.  mainly  anything but miller.
  • on memorial day, a very good friend of mine was involved in an accident in which a young man on a motorcycle was killed.  he was going so fast the impact bent the frame of her truck and shattered his helmet; the family blames her though for rolling forward from a stop sign three feet right before he rammed into her.  go figure.
  • that thursday, i found a dog wandering around a parking lot right by a six lane street/highway.  a blue pit bull that was obviously vigorously bred for her value (blue is the rarest, and thus most expensive pit trait).  i still have her.  other than what appears to be a hard wired need to chase and/or murder cats, she’s an awesome dog.

  • went to austin to see my friend (involved in the afore mentioned accident) and to unload the dog with another friend, who has four cats, which is coincidentally when i found out about the cat issue.  good visit.  never saw my friend who was in the accident, but i understand she’s doing what she needs to take care of herself, so it’s not a big deal.  also saw my dad and stepmom, which is always nice.  had a nice visit with my uncle, who is staying with my dad in what can only be described as his last 10 years of life.  see, he has lung cancer, but doesn’t really seem to be that sick.  it’s kind of funny.  and i’m glad that he’s doing so well.  my stepmom actually lets him keep/eat meat in the house, which is HUGE.  and funny.  and, well, sweet.
  • i learned that pit bulls poop a lot.  and i don’t just mean frequently.
  • i learned that pit bulls eat a lot.  again, not just frequently.
  • i learned that pit bulls are giant babies.  they lick incessantly, snuggle under the covers, and act like you just beat them with a bat  if you raise your voice at them.  at least, mine does.
  • i over spent on toys etc. for the new dog.  i’m broke now.  just cashed in my “dresser change”.  scored thirty bucks though, so i don’t feel so broke anymore.
  • in spite of it being more than a month since my bout with the boar flu, i still have a cough.  WTF?
  • i think sometime in all of this i saw the indigo girls in concert (again).  got their autographs.  also went to the symphony, which was, in all honesty, better than the indigo girls.  there’s just something about all those people playing all those instruments and making it sound so gosh darned good.  i also like watching the bows in the string section moving in unison.  could i be slightly autistic???  seriously, i found it truly mesmorizing.

i guess that’s about it.  of course, some old lady got tazed (think she said “don’t taze me bro!” right before it happened?).  war continues.  iran is still governed by tyrants.  and my friends are still the single (and by single i mean collectively) greatest thing in my life.  next to my dad, who i will be travelling to austin this coming weekend to visit for Father’s Day.  he’s just the bomb, and that’s all i have to say about that.

i’ll try to make it a point to bring my lappy to the bar with me from now on to facilitate more frequent posting here, and to just maintain my sanity.  oh yeah!  that reminds me.  apparently i’m one of the 2 or so million  households that was unprepared for the “digital switch”.  i really thought my tv that my “dying” uncle gave me was digital.  so now, the only thing i have to do at my house is watch “talladega nights”, “shooter”, or “road to perdition”, all of which are great in their own right but not so great if you’ve already seen them all over 20 times.  or i  could clean.  but that’s just gross.
